Tuesday 12th of June...

It’s funny how you sometimes wish for something so badly, and then, you realize that you might never have that wish granted… As you start getting used to the idea of never having that wish fulfilled, that wish, sometimes, just sometimes finds you…

Enough about me scribbling about stupid thoughts. It looks like there might be a few changes for Nightguide in stall, as well as some developments I was hoping for some time now. Time will tell, but it looks like there are some serious, NIGHTGUIDE parties materializing. Can’t wait to see the faces of these Capetonians as we bring JHB down here. Hehehe….

Nightguide will also start an exclusive Date-guide, which will mean that you can post a profile and who knows, maybe find love. The profiles will be limited and only 10 males and 10 females will be listed at any given time.

For some odd reason I am looking at buying a new car lately. I simply can’t make up my mind what car to buy. I drive around, spot this bargain, like that shape driving there, hear this story about that make or model… eish… hard one.

But I do have time, so ja, maybe a bargain will find me. I still have the Opel, and wish I could find a decent Corsa or some other small car’s body, where I can shove that motor in. Could be fun.

I recently started a profile on Facebook. At first I thought that it was just another MySpace, and yes, I didn’t rant and rave to much about it. I soon realized that it is not Facebook that is so addictive… It’s the “heat-magazine” image it portrays. You can poke someone, gossip, tease, find out secrets and even break up friendships on there. It is also not Facebook itself that builds this success. It’s the people that are joining it. The people, the visitors, are creating this one big global website consuming half of our days, just to change this or that, we always ending up spending way to much time on it. Yes, it is addictive, even more so than MXIT!!

Mmmmm thanks Nokia… Your N95, being just two (well, actually almost two) months old, just had its first screen replacement. The frustrations continue with this horrible phone hanging, not wanting to open applications or simply just switching off. I should have got myself a HTC ADVANTAGE. Windows mobile and all that. None of these crappy operating systems that Nokia try to make work. Probably the worst cellphone I ever owned.

Wellington I still good fun every Wednesday, and Thursdays still see me at Denim & Diamonds. Fridays and Saturdays you might find me in Somerset West. I must admit, I do need a change of scenery every now and then. For now I just use Kleinmond as my secret hide-away. My nights I still devote to mixing music or doing samplings and re-samplings. I just seem to get a lot more done when the sun sets.

I was actually supposed to go see The PicMaster and the Ice Prick tonight, but a few things came up, so we’ll just have to do it a little later in the week. I think the Ice Prick, the PicMaster and myself need another weekend away, hitting some poor town in full force, explaining to them how to pour the perfect JaggerBomb. Not a bad idea if you ask me…

Apparently the Ice Prick has something planned for me for this coming Friday… and yes, I do look forward to it. In the same sentence… Boy o Boy… what is he up to and what am I getting myself into this time… knowing the Ice Prick the way I do. Time will tell…

Just a Shout-out on the 31'st of May

Wednesday 30th of May was a semi-quiet night out in Wellington. Not sure why, but I recon that the student’s exams has got something to do with it. Tonight, 31st of December will tell, as I'm DJ’n in Stellenbosch. Funky Thursdays took of with storm in Denim & Diamonds, and it’s the one day in the week that I normally look forward to.

Probably because I can play a lot of my own music, and because Stellenbosch is filled with beautiful people.

On the production-side of things, it’s going a bit slower than what I would like. I guess it’s because I stay tired these days and whenever I am up and about, I’m busy working on everything except producing. Maybe I’ll have to call a bit of a time-out and pack a bag. Go away for a day or two. Not a bad idea if you ask me.

Weird things are happening with regards to my past as well… My ex, Marlize contacted me on Sunday. For what reason you may ask? Simple, she just wanted to know how things are going etc etc. There are just a few things that bother me. Why would she tell me not to contact her after 10, because the fiancé then gets off work? Why the sudden interest if I’m involved with someone or not? Why the flood of sms’s and the request from her side not to mention it to other people that works with the fiancé?

Unfortunately I’m the suspicious kind of person, questioning almost everything, and trusting very few people. People that I do trust know that. So ja, this whole episode will soon reveal itself. Maybe one simply doesn’t know what they have lost until they realize it afterwards.

On a completely different note… has anybody ever wondered about a proper Nightguide Party?
H2O is coming up pretty fast up in JHB, and I’m looking forward to having one awesome time yet again. Problem is that Cape Town is way behind when it comes to hosting great parties such as H2O. I mean decent outdoor events, with the likes of SA’s cream DJ’s.

I’m walking around with the idea of hosting exactly such an event down here in Cape Town, and who knows, it might just happen sooner that anticipated.

Update 29th May 2007

I know that I promised that this blog will be a reflection of my private life, but for some reason I simply didn’t feel like writing in it the last couple of weeks… I told everyone asking that I simply didn’t have the time, but maybe I was simply lying to myself and to them, for I really didn’t want to reflect any of my personal feelings over the last couple of weeks on this blog.

Needless to say, a promise is a promise, so I will simply have to face it then. Lets start with the simple things, that sort off makes sense to me…

I lost 7kg so far. Don’t know if that’s good or bad, but the doctor said I should lose weight, and fast. Apparently it will help with my health, illnesses and all that. I also decided to cut down on my usual Brandy and Coke when I go out. I now settle for a relaxing Bombay Sapphire Gin and Tonic. After that, a simple cider or spirit cooler for me thanks.

I received my new cellphone, and yes, I plead guilty… it’s a Nokia. Nokia N95… endless problems and probably a mistake I will regret for a long time. This phone is a bit like those commercials you watch in the early mornings on TV, where, if you order now, you will receive this, this and this, bla bla bla… What a load of crap!! If anyone wants a frustration tied to their hip, get yourself a Nokia. Boy o boy, do I miss my Sony Ericsson. It has got nice functions and all the toys, whistles and what-have-you’s, but eish… frustrations like you cant believe!! User-friendly my ass!! Nokia, thank you for a stressful life being more stressful now…

Business-wise it’s been very busy. My CD is due soon, and besides all my normal rentals etc I DJ Wednesday through to Saturday now. It’s a bit of a touch and go situation, but hey, I enjoy being busy. It does get to me every now and then, but its cool… I’ll cope, just like always.

It’s funny how certain things happen in ones life that you didn’t foresee… Suddenly certain ppl come across my path again, and the next moment, I lend them money to start a little business. It’s not that we weren’t close; it’s just that something told me to reach out a little for a change. My history so far was pretty much a one-way deal, and I decided to give someone else a chance to achieve something. I trust that I made the right decision. Besides, money is an expendable commodity. Time will tell…

Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th of May I spent in Kleinmond with family, and it was fun seeing them, even going out with my cousin and her boyfriend for a few drinks. Recon I should do it more often. Craig went with, and in a way he makes me think of my old friend Craig that passed away a while back. They are both realistic in life, facing it head-on, not budging one bit.
I for some reason like it like that. People that are straight, to the point, with no hidden pretensions. If I was out in the field, Craig could have been my flank-man, just like my old friend Craig was. I would trust him, no doubt.

Otherwise I’m just enjoying life. Guess I have to. Life is too short to waste any of it that’s given to you. Guess it is a matter of give and take. Works like this, not so, even nature’s the perfect example.

Sometimes I wonder why life can be so harsh, so unforgiving, yet pulling a trigger can be so easy, without any emotions. It seems like certain things are simply taken for granted, programmed into someone, yet other things need some mental adjustment. Guess it’s all for a good cause anyway. Sting or be stung…

The Blue Eyes… aaaaaa…. Now for the other part.

I came across the most amazing set of blue eyes recently. A real true friend emerged from nowhere, and I simply have to share this:

Blue eyes peering thro' leaves of green
Bluer than the sky, bluer than the sea,
Oh, rarest flower! Blue Rose-so beautiful,
Others pale in compare,
Blue as the sapphire-the fairest of gems,
Bright as the bluest Star-in darkest night;
Ah, blue Rose, if Heaven were not made of Love,
Angels would envy thee!
Yet, in early-morn's dew,
tear-drops fall from pools of blue,
Don't cry, little Rose, don't be sad!
With sweetest of fragrance-soft petals open, too
Reveal your lovely blue gown;
blue Rose, you deserve the Crown!

That’s all I will say on that subject… The rest, well, we’ll see who can eat the most pizza. Hehehe.

I am working on a couple of big contracts and are also importing some goods that might just set a new business alight in South Africa. That’s all I’m willing to say right now with regards to that as well. Lets just say that I spend a great deal of time on the Internet, and I hate research at the moment!!

I’m still keeping myself busy with music-production, but at the moment I’m doing a lot of remixes of songs that I feel has got a meaning for me personally. After all, what else is music all about, except a journey?…

This week all is guuuuddd....

Monday 2nd of April
It's my birthday, and i managed 2 keep it a secret so far...
Asked Kelly to go shopping with me for some new clothes... needless to say, we ended up shopping 4 shoes for Kelly!! Had a quiet night out with a certain lady...

Sunday 1st of April
Went to a Comedy show and asked Kelly to go with. Cocktails and Sushi half-price and a load of fun!! It was her first Comedy Show, and she was crawling with laughter. Did invite that someone else first, but she’s got those awful Nokia phones, and the battery died, so she got my msg late…

Trying to keep my secrets secret, otherwise 2morrow will be a great big drinking orgy!!
Specially from Pierre and Craig…

Saturday 31st March
Pierre did a Set-up in Hout Bay, and had to book some DJ’s. I was setting up and doing sound @ Nameless, Somerset West.

Had a Foam machine booked for Saturday morning for a car show that was held by the Daily Voice newspaper… Drove all the way there just to find out that they cancelled it… Apparently they tried to phone my “Office Number”… but I don’t have one!! What the fuck!!

One big mess-up and pure incompetence from this bunch of people.

Saturday night I finally got enough courage to approach someone I’ve been looking at secretly for some time now… well, lets just say it was an eye-opener…

Friday 30th March
Had a promo at Town Square, and DJ’d in Wellington. Went well, and had a lot of fun.

Thursday 29th March
DJ’d @ Denim & Diamonds, with the weekly Funky Thursdays!! Was Great!! One of the biggest Thursdays they ever had… just once again proof that the Stellenbosch Students are hungry for something different…

Wednesday 28th March
Had a Foam Party and a Wet T-shirt Competition on at Cancun, in Stellenbosch. Was a lot of fun and the women there are all nuts!! Saw Chelize there, but it seems like she’s got other things on her mind…

Tuesday 27th March
Serviced some of my equipment, and repacked all my wires. Didn’t know I had so many!!

Monday 26th of March
Had some electrical work to do, and it ended up being a whole day’s work!!
Bad!!

Sunday 25th of March
Decided I’ll stay home and relax for a change. Went out for dinner… it was Guuuudddd….

I'm posting again!!! Can you believe it!!

Ok, so I’ve been lagging a bit with the Blog, But Here’s the Update!!

Some of you know that I’m fairly busy with doctors and all the medical stuff accompanying it, so yes, I do apologies for not posting a lot on the blog… Here is a brief update on what’s been happening in my life…

I’m still single as a long-lost winter-housefly, on a diet for reasons known to me alone, and working my butt. That to put it lightly…

Saturday the 24th of March
Had a private party to do for the neighbor, and had to run around looking for a DJ. Also played at Nameless Pub, Somerset West. Had to supply PA and lighting for both events.

Friday the 23rd of March
Had a foam party @ de Hoop Primary School in Somerset West for their fund-raising.

Had a second foam party in Hermanus and had to send Pierre and Jaco. They got stuck in the traffic due to the Off-road Motor-rally being held in Grabouw on the 24th and 25th of March. (more info - http://motoring.iafrica.com/sa_sport/sa_rally/972383.htm ) These guys are having trail-runs, so the N2 traffic got stopped every now and then. Pierre and Jaco got there 20 minutes late, only to hear that the whole thing was cancelled just because they were 20 minutes late!! We did let the people know that we are stuck on the N2… Nothing else to do for them but to turn around and come back…

I also DJ’d at Nameless pub, Somerset West and did the PA

Thursday 22nd of March
Played my Sets at Denim & Diamonds, Stellenbosch. It was a little quiet, but I guess it’s due to the students studying for their tests. We’ll see next week..

Wednesday 21st of March
Played in Wellington and took some MOJO gifts with…

Sunday the 18th of March
Comedy Show in Green Point… this is getting Huge!!

Saturday 17th of March

Grand opening of the new place in Wellington

Sunday 25th of February
Went to a Comedy show in Green Point. Was great to see all my old buddies and we had a great laugh. The Sushi and cocktails are also half price between 16-00 and 19-00. What a bargain!!

Thursday 22nd of February
Funky Thursday DJ set at Denim & Diamonds, Stellenbosch

Wednesday 21st of February

Tuesday 20th of February
Did a party at Springbok Pub Newlands. It was just a sound set-up and other DJ’s playing. They wanted this sound rig that was way too big for the event in any case, but hey, the customer wants, I deliver!! Also wanted a 2nd set-up outside, and lighting.

They also had these hip-hop guys doing their thing on the mics. We set the sound perfectly and did a trail run before the party. Then the group’s “Sound engineer” pitched up, and everything turned into a disaster, as he didn’t have a clue what he was doing…

Only packed up at 4-30 the next morning.

Friday 16th of February till Sunday 18th of February
Did a concert in the middle of nowhere… lets just leave it with that…

Thursday 15th of February

Saturday 10th February
Just the normal rentals that went out, and the morning I did some amazing skydiving… Whooohaaaa…

Friday 9th February
Spend an evening with myself and the Bulldog, then went out or a drink or two. Only had a couple of rentals that went out.

Thursday 8th February
Started my new party in Stellenbosch. It’s Called Funky Thursdays and it’s something completely different to what the other places are doing. It’s the first time in quite some time that I’m playing in Stellenbosch, and it is amazing to see the reaction on people’s faces when they actually hear music that they would only hear in Cape Town.

I’m pulling in a lot of resources, involving some record companies and MOJO…

Looks like this is going to be fun!!

Tuesday 6th February
Tired after the visit to the hospital, worked on the websites and took it easy.

Monday 5th of February
Had some electrical work to do and went down to the hospital.

Saturday3rd February

Friday 2nd February
Did a foam party in Wellington, as well as a Wet T-Shirt competition.

Wednesday 31st January
Had two foam parties, one at a club in Stellenbosch, the other one at a dormitory in Stellenbosch. I did the one at the club, where I met this amazing Girl that just keeps partying!! Her name is C and we had a good time.

She has got a boyfriend, and I don’t think that there will be anything more that just being friends coming from this ordeal. But I must admit, she is a hell-uva lot of fun to party with.

Monday 29th January
Had a few meetings in Stellenbosch, and had a great party in Stellies that evening.

Saturday 27th January

I set up sound @ Delviera for a wedding, and it went off great with Hennie and Stevie playing all the best hits.

TO HATE AND HATE TO LOVE...

Am I sick cos I hate to hate you,
You made me hate you,
Let myself hate you,

When it's all your fault,
...Cos you made me love you,
Yeah you made me hate to love you,
Now I hate myself. So twist through time,
If you ever look back...
Admit you used me like the other damn Jacks!

So all that time you were lying?
All that time I was a fool?
Now this time I lay dying,
Drowning in this apathy pool,
These salted tears the gullable shed,
Well I've shed mine,

With guilt and dread,
Hear the voices,
Conscience in my head.

Now I can't trust it,
My conscience's dead.
Bittersweet, bitterweet tears run down,
All that time,
I choked,
I drowned,
I bled these thoughts again and again,
In my mind again,
and again...

A week in postings... Sorry, know I'm late you all, but hey!!

Sunday 21st January
Another quiet Sunday. Had a braai, watched a DVD and went to bed early…
Nothing more to say!!

Saturday 20th January
Packed my DJ gear and headed to Cape Town where I did a product launch for a major company. Then it was off to Vacca Matta for a fun-filled night, blessed by the sweet tunes one DJ Theo and his wife and fellow DJ can deliver. Was absolutely great!! The reason for all this??

It was Pierre’s Birthday Party!!! Since his first drink was a dbl Stroh with a shot of Zappa all mixed in a tumbler, we knew that this man needs to keep standing… and we made shure he did…. Really looked after him, like only friends can, by keeping his glass filled all the time. Hehehe… not just alcohol, but also plain Coke and lots of water. Pierre and myself were the last to leave, and frankly, I’m not going to mention the bar-tab…

Friday 19th January
Again had to rush to Stellenbosch to fix some sound. It is amazing that a lot of these DJ’s in Stellenbosch think that they know everything about sound, only to discover that they turned the wrong knob or pushed the wrong button.

I see it all the time… settings being changed by DJ’s on Compression Limiters and Crossovers, just because the DJ thinks that the sound system needs more bass. If something blows, I must rush out and fix. Thank you to all the DJ’s out there that has itchy fingers. You pay my bills!!

Thursday 18th January
Aaa… Another VIP party at Vacca Matta. http://www.nightguide.co.za/ did the second VIP party at Vacca Matta with MOJO, our new brand backing us. All had a great evening and the Jesse Jordan Band entertained us throughout the evening.

When the band finished, we were treated to the sweet sounds of DJ Theo. The party soon speeded up into a frenzy of shooters, MOJO, tequila and anything else nice and naughty. It was great to be amongst some of the old crowd from the club Town in Claremont, with which we were so closely involved with. It was great to exchange old stories and to find out what happened to each-other while we were going our separate ways.

Needless to say, after my R880-00 bar-tab, it was time for me to head home…

Wednesday 17th January

Got up early to fix washing machine for a client, and then I was off to see another client in Somerset West. Then I rushed to Stellenbosch and supplied a club with some globes that they urgently needed. I serviced some lights and thereafter went to favorite water-hole in Stellenbosch, where I had a great evening.

Also picked up two monitor speakers that I need to fix as well… o boy, my house is getting to full for all these repairs…

Tuesday 16th January

Worked on some of the broken equipment and repairs that is starting to slowly invade my home… Space is getting to be a problem, and so is finding parts. Looks like this is the scenario at the beginning of every year.

Left the house at 14-00 for Cape Town. Got a booking for a Foam party at a private house. It was apparently some surprise birthday party or something. Got there and set up. It was for some youngster that had a party, age group from I guess 17 to around 19/20. Kewl party, and I don’t think their swimming pool will ever be the same. Party did however stop early because of a cellphone that got stolen. The dad wasn’t very impressed.

Monday 15th January

Aaaaa… Monday blues… Went to Cape Town early morning to fetch some speakers and an amplifier that I ordered. I have to fit these items today in a restaurant that is opening on Friday. So it is a rush rush situation. Got back at around 14-00 and went straight to the restaurant to fit them. Job done, I went home and took a shower, had some dinner, and relaxed for half an hour.

Then it was off to Stellenbosch to fetch some more equipment that decided to fail on their users. It’s amazing. Clients phone you and ask me for prices on equipment. I quote them, and then they go buy cheap stuff, and a couple of months, they phone me to repair it. In the end it is costing them more!! Why bother to phone me for a quote in the first place??

Sunday 14th January

Simply had a quiet day at home, spending it with fami9ly and had a braai in the evening. Did however had a bottle of the most horrific, yucky wine I had in a long time. Drank 1 glass and poured the rest on the lawn.

Don’t think I need to cut the grass in that section again…
I fetched some speakers last night that needs repairing from Stellenbosch. Thing is so big I left it on the bakkie last night. Think I will offload it today
